What is human trafficking and its causes?
Beyond cultural practices, the profit, vulnerabilities of certain people groups, lack of human rights, economic instability, and more, traffickers are the ones who choose to exploit people for their own gain.

They lure and ensnare people into forced labor and sex trafficking by manipulating and exploiting their vulnerabilities. Human traffickers prey on people who are hoping for a better life, lack employment opportunities, have an unstable home life, or have a history of sexual or physical abuse.
How can you tell if someone is a trafficker?
Warning signs that an individual may be being trafficked:
- Physical abuse such as burn marks, bruises or cuts.
- Unexplained absences from class.
- Sexualized behavior.
- Overly tired in class.
- Withdrawn, depressed, distracted or checked out.
- Brags about making or having lots of money.
