How long does ACC cover last?
Claims can be made up to 12 months after your injury. We may still consider claims made after this time if there’s a good reason for the claim not being made sooner.
At what age does ACC stop paying?
If you received weekly ACC payments for an injury before you turned 65. If you’re injured before you turn 63, you’ll be eligible for weekly ACC payments until you turn 65. If you’re injured after you turn 63, you’ll be eligible for weekly ACC payments for two years from the date your payments started.
Can I lose my job if on ACC?
Accidents happen. The good news is, you cannot lose your job through injury. The Human Rights Act 1993 requires employers to make reasonable accommodations so that a disabled or injured employee can return to work.
What ACC does not cover?
Your injury must be because of an accident . We don’t cover: illness, sickness, or contagious diseases, eg measles. stress, hurt feelings or other emotional issues.
Does ACC cover heart attack?
As It says in the name, ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation) only covers accidents. ACC does not cover you if you get sick and cannot work. (think cancer, heart attack etc.)
Can you get ACC for depression?
ACC can cover a mental condition if the mental injury assessor advises that the physical injury was a significant cause of the mental injury even if there were other contributing factors such as the surrounding circumstances.
Does ACC cover doctor’s visits?
Pay for part of your appointment Check with your health provider for their fees. If you have a Community Services Card or are a dependant (14 to 17 years of age) of a Community Services cardholder, you may get a lower-cost visit to your GP. Most GPs will also offer zero-fees for children under 14 years.
Does ACC pay for xrays?
Yes, there is a minimal surcharge on x-rays going funded by ACC with Mercy Radiology.
What help can I get from ACC?
Types of ongoing support
- Getting aids and equipment to help with an injury. If we cover your injury, we can help with aids and equipment.
- Help at home after an injury.
- Transport and getting around after an injury.
- Support with childcare and education after an injury.
- Travelling for treatment and rehabilitation.
- Counselling and therapy.
Does ACC cover chronic pain?
To be eligible for the ACC Pain Management Service you must have an accepted ACC claim and have at least one of the following: Persistent pain that is preventing you from undertaking your usual activities, including work. A significant pain-related disability.
Does ACC cover fibromyalgia?
After medical review, their condition has been redefined as fibromyalgia, or chronic generalised pain syndrome, a condition excluded from ACC cover.
Does ACC cover self inflicted injuries?
Patients with wilfully self-inflicted personal injuries are covered by ACC and are entitled to treatment and ancillary services for treatment.
