How many hours of light do you need for jungle Val?
High lighting is the best option because Jungle Val would naturally receive lots of sunlight in shallow waters. They will survive in moderate lighting, but with a reduced growth rate. Aim to provide 8-10 hours of light a day.

Val doesn’t need a lot of light to grow tall. Try some with root tabs and your current substrate, some with just gravel, sand, dirted, less filtration, no filtration, no UV sterilization, etc…
Will vallisneria grow in sand?
Vallisneria It will do well in sand, and also needs some root tabs. It requires medium to high lighting. Vallisneria is an excellent plant to serve as a background plant.
Does jungle Val need root tabs?
It usually doesn’t require anything special. On a few occasions, it can be affected by a lack of calcium or nitrogen, but that’s about it from what I’ve seen. Root tabs will help it spread faster and high, sustained levels of nitrogen will allow for a large and extrememely long plant growth.
Does vallisneria grow fast?
Vallisneria grows so fast that it often goes to compost. If you’ve got multiple high tech planted aquariums, a vallisneria jungle is a nice reprieve from all the maintenance. If you’ve never had plants before, it’ll unlock a whole new world to you.
Will goldfish eat vallisneria?
Vallisneria Spiralis is often the snack of choice for goldfish, and they will happily eat the leaves of the plant with gusto. However, this makes it particularly well suited to the goldfish tank, as it grows quickly enough to make up for the attacks of all but the hungriest goldfish!
