What is the frequency of red?
The visible spectrum
| colour* | wavelength (nm) | frequency (1014 Hz) |
|---|---|---|
| red | 650 | 4.62 |
| orange | 600 | 5.00 |
| yellow | 580 | 5.16 |
| green | 550 | 5.45 |
Which of the color has the highest frequency and energy?
violet
Does red light travel further than blue?
The individual components of light are called the spectrum. Blue light has a short wavelength; red light a longer wavelength. Because at these times sunlight travels further through the atmosphere than at other times of the day, blue light is scattered more.
Is violet or red light faster?
Violet travels the slowest so it is on the bottom and red travels the fastest so is on the top. This is because what is called the index of refraction, (the ratio of the speed of light in a vacuum to the speed of light in a material), is increased for the slower moving waves (i.e. violet).
Which light travels faster in glass?
So according to equation (1) velocity of light is directly proportional to the wavelength. So violet color has minimum velocity of light and red color has maximum velocity of light when it passes through the glass. Hence the red color of white light travels fastest in the glass.
Why is red refracted the least?
Each beam of light has its own particular wavelength and is slowed differently by the glass. Violet light has a shorter wavelength; hence, it is slowed more than the longer wavelengths of red light. Consequently, violet light is bent the most while the red light is bent the least.
What two things need to be present to make a rainbow?
In order to see a rainbow you’ll need two ingredients: sunlight and raindrops. Sunlight is a mixture of colors. When it passes through a glass prism, some of the light is bent, or refracted, more than other portions. Light leaving the prism spreads out into a continuous band of colors called a spectrum.
What happens when red light passes through a prism?
The red light has a single wavelength and when enters a prism, it will not split into other different colours.
