Can you Joint end grain?
Yes, it’s possible to joint end grain. The only issue is that the unsupported fibers at the trailing end of the cut tend to break away. To prevent that, just back up the workpiece. When jointing end grain, it’s best to take a light cut–no more than about 1⁄32″.

Why is my jointer not cutting flat?
Occasionally, you’ll find a fence that isn’t flat. A slight bow or crown in a jointer fence shouldn’t really affect accuracy. But a jointer fence that’s twisted or warped will make it nearly impossible to joint a square edge. You may be able to take a warped fence to a machine shop to have it ground flat.
How do you stop snipers on a jointer?
The jointer will partially erase the pencil line without leaving an obvious snipe line. One suggestion I have is to set your infeed table 1/64th inch below your knives and leave it there. Then start to raise your outfeed table in very small increments until the snipe goes away.
