What jobs are dogs used for?
We all know about some of the jobs that dogs were bred to do, such as herding, hunting, and retrieving. In fact, dogs have been helping humans for hundreds of years with tasks around the farm or to protect livestock, property, and the home.
What is a goose dog?
We use the trained goose dog’s natural instinct and herding ability, along with their wolf-like stare, to keep geese off of client sites. They are first trained with traditional herding commands on sheep. They are taught at a very young age to never touch the sheep which translates to geese later in their training.
Do geese and dogs get along?
Fundamentally, dogs and geese are from two separate areas of the animal kingdom and naturally, they would only meet in hunting circumstances which make them unlikely acquaintances. There is no science behind getting them to get along – just good training and reading the signs.
Do dogs kill geese?
Dogs handled properly put geese in flight and the geese leave an area entirely. Handled improperly they may only put the birds in the water, where, if not pursued, they quickly learn the dog is not a real threat. Dogs must never catch or harm geese.

if not kill then damage badly. Some geese are quite aggressive and can put a hurtin on a dog but I sure wouldn’t take a chance of them surviving a dog attack.
