What medications cause negative pregnancy test?
Fertility drugs containing the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) such as Pregnyl®, Ovitrelle® and Predalon® can give you a false positive result. They said when i do become pregnant eventually I will have to almost double my dose.
Can medication interfere with a pregnancy test?
Most medicines should not affect the results of a home pregnancy test. This includes over-the-counter and prescription medicines such as birth control and antibiotics. Also, alcohol and illegal drugs do not affect pregnancy test results.
Why do I keep getting false negative pregnancy tests?
Another common reason for getting a false negative is not having enough hCG in the urine you test. In early pregnancy, you can dilute the hormone concentration in your urine if you drink a lot of water before testing. This is more likely to happen in very early pregnancy when you take the test later in the day.
Can you be pregnant even if the test says negative?
The simple answer is yes, you could still be pregnant even with a negative test, depending on when you took it, but there are also other reasons your period could be late. A pregnancy test detects HCG levels in your urine which increase the longer you are pregnant.
How many days does it take for hCG to show in urine?
With most current pregnancy test kits, hCG can be detected in the urine as early as 3-4 days after implantation, though it often takes longer. If you are pregnant, on the day you miss your period about 74% of HPTs will be positive.
What if you think your pregnant but the test is negative?
If it’s way too far from your expected period date, you won’t have enough pregnancy hormone in your urine yet to trigger a positive result on the test. The easiest solution here is to simply wait a few days, or even all the way until you’re past due for your period (hard to do, we know!).
Can you be pregnant and not have hCG in your urine?
Modern home pregnancy tests (which use a urine sample to detect the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin or hCG, a hormone produced during pregnancy) are fairly reliable. So most of the time, getting a negative result on a pregnancy test means that you are probably not pregnant.
