How do I find my stud pattern?
Measure from the middle of one stud to the outside of the second stud (skipping a stud). The number you see will be the actual measurement of the bolt pattern. So if you see 4 1/2 inches, you have a 5 on 4 1/2 ( also 5×4.5 and 5×114.3) bolt pattern. Other common bolt patterns are 5×4.75 and 5×5.

The easiest way to calculate the PCD is as follows:
- Identify the size of the rim or tyre size.
- Measure the distance ‘S’ between two adjacent studs from the centre of each hole.

How much offset difference is OK?
Even if the tire and wheel have enough clearance, the wrong offset can decrease vehicle stability. Generally, with new wheels, you don’t want the new offset to be more than 5 millimeters different from the old offset.
Can I use rims with different offset?
If the new wheels are the same width, the new offset should ideally be within 5mm of the old offset in either direction. If offset must be substantially different, avoid using more positive offset at all costs. If the new wheels are wider, backspacing must be calculated.
