Do I have to read Discworld in order?
The Discworld Series consists of several “sub series”. The books aren’t labeled according to the series they belong to, and the books can be read and enjoyed without reading them in order (phew!). But to get the most pleasure out of them, reading the books in their proper order is best.
Which Terry Pratchett book should I start with?
If you want to try just one, I’d suggest Mort, Guards! Guards!, or Small Gods as your first taste. While Mort kicks off the Death-centric series, and Guards! Guards! the Night Watch cycle, they can all be read as standalone novels with strong introductions to the Disc and Pratchett’s humour.
Is Discworld connected?
I am pretty sure it is the only two books in the Discworld series which are connected directly into eachother. Not at all! There are the Moist Von Lipwig, the City Watch/ Vimes, the Witches/ Lancre, Susan/Death, Rincewind/ the wizards in general, and probably more that I’m forgetting.
Should a book have chapters?
Logically, there is no need for chapters in novels at all. On a more practical level, books are divided into chapters to make the experience of reading the book more user-friendly. Give the audience plenty of “resting places” and you will keep them happy.
How many pages should a chapter be in a novel?
Some authors like longer chapters. Some like shorter ones. It’s up to you. However, there is an industry average, and it seems to be about 8 to 10 pages, give or take a little.
