Where is the coolant drain plug on engine block?
The drain will be located on the rear of the block, near the bottom but not level with the oil pan. Typically they are located closer to the flywheel housing then the outside of the engine pan and will look like large bolts set into the block which are not holding anything in place.
How do you drain coolant from LS block?
Re: draining coolant from the block Pull the thermostat hose off and remove tstat and then remove the lower rad hose and blow air from top tstat out the bottom, Then fill back up with distilled water W/O stat run to flush system blow back out again and fill back up with OE coolant.
How do you drain coolant from LML Duramax?
Place the coolant catch pan under the lower radiator hose. Remove the metal clip that holds the lower radiator hose to the radiator by lifting it from its groove with the screwdriver. Pull the hose from the radiator and allow the coolant to drain.
How do you drain the coolant on a Silverado?
Set a drain pan under the connection point between the lower radiator hose and the radiator. Squeeze the tabs on the lower radiator hose’s clamp with slip-joint pliers, and slide the hose clamp about 3 inches up the hose — away from the radiator. Pull the lower hose from the radiator, using a slight twisting motion.
Is it OK to top up coolant with tap water?
If your coolant level is too low (below or near the lower mark), top it up using a 50/50 mixture of water and antifreeze (for normal driving conditions), or pour pre-mixed antifreeze straight into the reservoir. You can use clean tap water in an emergency, but antifreeze should be added as soon as possible.
What water should I mix with coolant?
distilled water
What happens if I don’t dilute coolant?
Nothing, as long as you dilute it properly by adding enough distilled water directly as well. It won’t cool any better or worse, but it will be more concentrated and this likely more corrosive to the internal parts and thus can increase the likelihood of leaks and issues down the line.
Which is better coolant or distilled water?
By itself, distilled water, is much better at heat transfer compared to antifreeze/coolants. However, water, by itself, causes the metal parts in the cooling system to corrode. We want to use distilled water and not ordinary tap water that has minerals to prevent lime scales from forming inside the cooling system.
