The number 77 originated from Doncic’s playing days with the Slovenian national team. Kleman Prepelic, an older Slovenian player, already had Doncic’s number 7 for the national team. Doncic wore 7 for Real Madrid, but Prepelic was able to keep the number because he was a veteran and had the first choice.
