Why carbon dioxide can be used in firefighting?
Carbon dioxide extinguishes work by displacing oxygen, or taking away the oxygen element of the fire triangle. The carbon dioxide is also very cold as it comes out of the extinguisher, so it cools the fuel as well.
Do firefighters use carbon dioxide?

Is expanding foam flammable after it dries?
Is expanding foam flammable when dry? It’s quite flammable when released from the can due to the use of a potentially explosive gas propellant. And, even after it hardens, the foam remains flammable when subjected to temperatures above 240 F (116 C).
Can you cut fire foam?
The foam expands on application to up to 50 times its original volume and meets the test criteria BS476 Part 20; Class B1. Once cured, the foam can be cut, sawn or plastered over after approximately one hour.

Can I use great stuff around heating ducts?
Look for cans labeled for use on windows and doors. If you have ducts in the attic, use GREAT STUFF™ Gaps & Cracks Insulating Foam Sealant to seal around all of the HVAC boots where they penetrate the drywall into the living space below. Sealing duct seams is messy work, so wear old clothes.
Can you use spray foam around heating ducts?
The ducts should be tested for total duct leakage and any leaks should be sealed. Once these preparations are made, the ducts can be encapsulated in at least 1.5 inches of closed-cell polyurethane spray foam. Encapsulating the ducts in spray foam increases the R-value of the ductwork and reduces air leakage.
How do you seal unused vents?
The least expensive method to seal the vent opening is to remove the vent cover from the ceiling, cut a piece of cardboard to fit inside the vent cover, tape the cardboard in place with polyurethane tape, and reinstall the vent cover.
What happens if you cover an air vent?
You could mess with the air flow. Just because you cover the vent, it doesn’t mean your HVAC system knows that. It will keep pushing air to those vents, and if they’re closed, you could cause a buildup of air pressure and insufficient airflow which could damage your system.
