Why is it important to use citation and referencing in your work?
Citations are not used simply to avoid plagiarism; they have other important roles too. Referencing allows you to acknowledge the contribution of other writers and researchers in your work. By citing the work of a particular scholar, you acknowledge and respect the intellectual property rights of that researcher.

- to paraphrase or summarise an author’s work.
How do you write the source of an image?
List of References
- author (if available)
- year produced (if available)
- title of image (or a description)
- Format and any details (if applicable)
- name and place of the sponsor of the source.
- accessed day month year (the date you viewed/ downloaded the image)
- URL or Internet address (between pointed brackets).
Can you go to jail for a citation?
You can’t get jail time for a citation, you can for a misdemeanor.
Can police mail you a citation?
This is referred to as an Owner’s Responsibility ticket. The police officer will mail the ticket to you, rather than citing the driver. You should also receive a courtesy Information Violation Notice from the court which will list your options. You can also contest the ticket if you think you are not guilty.
