The Provence includes the French Riviera and is famous for its sunny weather, colorful countryside, tradition, wine, food, and language (Provençal). Its main attractions include the city of Avignon and the wide variety of villages which can be easily explored by car or bicycle on the network country roads and highways.

Aix-en-Provence, city, Bouches-du-Rhône département, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes région, southern France, north of Marseille. Lying on the plain 1 mile (1.6 km) from the right bank of the Arc River, it is on the crossroads of main routes to Italy and the Alps.
Why is Provence so popular?
A. Provence is one of the most popular areas in France because it is so beautiful, and despite the influx of tourists every year, the landscape remains unscathed. Geographically it is surrounded by the River Rhone, the southern Alps and the Mediterranean and houses Europe’s greatest canyon, the Gorges du Verdon.
Is Provence worth visiting?
Short answer: yes, definitely. If you are unsure, you only have 1 week to spend in the south of France, or two, Aix en Provence is definitely worth visiting. It’s one of my favorite towns in France.

What is the best time of year to visit Provence?
The best time to visit Provence is unquestionably either April to May, or September to October, when the weather is pleasant and the crowds have largely died down.
