What is in the water that we drink?
Your drinking water comes from natural sources that are either groundwater or surface water. Groundwater comes from rain and snow that seeps into the ground. It is the water that fills the rivers, lakes, and streams. Water is pumped, both from groundwater or surface water sources, into pipes or tanks.
Why is it dangerous for humans to drink sea water?
Seawater is toxic to humans because your body is unable to get rid of the salt that comes from seawater. Your body’s kidneys normally remove excess salt by producing urine, but the body needs freshwater to dilute the salt in your body for the kidneys to work properly.
