Barometer Castilla-La Mancha 2012 CCPSCLM

The past July 23, the College of Political Science and Sociology of Castilla-La Mancha (CPSCLM) published its first Barometer for Regional 2012-1.

The barometer of opinion of the Spanish manchego, it is an investigation carried out entirely by the Professional Association, and that presents these data for the first time to offer a sociological gaze of a regional character that shared space with other published surveys with samples of national character, difficult to extrapolate to our territory by the size of the sample and which also aims to coexist with studies commissioned by the public authorities.

The CCPSCLM has considered these dates, a year of the inauguration of the new government, as an appropriate time to start this type of query, and be able to pick up the “mood” of the regional population, knowing that any change or improvement in the confidence of the citizenship has an immediate impact on the direction of the political and social events.

Also trust in this type of study serves to make known an institution schoolboy who has over 15 years of supporting the professionals in the region and conducting research for all types of entities and institutions that had among their objectives the realization of a general study on the current social and political situation of the region that is expected to start up with this barometer.

The publication of this barometer has not been without controversy. The Government of Castilla-La Mancha, and carried out several releases in that it attached little credence to the CCPSCLM, as, in its judgment, interpreted as a poll manipulated by the opposition party (See news). However, the publication of any barometer which polls about the ratings of different political parties, has never been without controversy. As I said Bourdieu, “sociology is a science that uncomfortable” (also it has been said by other sociologists, with different words). The study of the social reality creates not a few problems, more when it comes to matters of political efforts. Sociological research reveals, in many occasions, issues concealed or repressed, and this causes some resistance in many; especially, in those who have an interest not to know or not to know. Without going more far, the institution of sociological investigation par excellence in Spain, the CIS, has not been spared of controversy in many of his barometers published, where those who tend to complain -as is natural – the political actors who are harmed in the results of the poll.

To the discredit of the Government of Castilla – La Mancha, School of Political Science and Sociology of Castilla-La Mancha is delivered via official press release (see Response to the Press Note issued by the JCCM) and remarked that the Barometer of Socio-political “reflects a reality that you may like or not but that expresses what I feel the citizens of the region in these moments” (see news).
