Can guppies live with Danios?
Danios and guppies are good together because they have a lot of things in common. They are both tropical fish, and they don’t have any outrageous environmental demand. The combination of these two species in the same tank is very colorful, making them fun and relaxing to watch.
Will Danios nip guppies?
Tetras, rasboras and other types of danios will all get along well with other fish, won’t bother guppies or zebra danios, and are generally not bothered by them.
Do Danios attack other fish?
Danios typically are not aggressive towards other fish unless their school is too small. They do seem aggressive towards one another, though, as the school develops a hierarchy of dominance through fin nipping and other “aggressive play.”
Why is my Danio attacking other fish?
Zebra Danios usually chase and kill other fish due to inappropriate water conditions, including elevated toxins, low pH, and inadequate temperature. However, Danios may also attack their tankmates to establish a hierarchy or when the tank is overcrowded and features too few females.
How do I know if my Danios are happy?
Generally speaking, following are some of the ways you can tell if your fish are happy.
- They swim back and forth freely and energetically around the tank.
- Quite like humans, happy fish might have a vibrant glow to their skin.
- They do not appear fearful of the other fish in the tank.
- They are breathing normally.
How many Danios should be kept together?
Danios thrive in groups, the larger the better. Ideally you should have at least five or six danios, in a tank that holds at least 25 gallons (95 liters). A group of three fish in a smaller tank is acceptable, but can lead to stress or aggression.
Are Danios aggressive?
Danios in general are not inherently aggressive fish, but the majority of the most common species are very fast, active swimmers and hunter/predators. Many enjoy endless games of chase and are often also very eager about mating.
Are Danios fin nippers?
Zebra danios are very active fish. When I had them I never noticed nipped fins on my fish. Tiger barbs are one of the most notorious fin nippers and I think that most fish are going to pale in comparison to that. The danios may occasionally nip fins, but a few nips here and there aren’t bad.
Why are my Danios swimming at the top of the tank?
If oxygen levels are low, fish hang at the surface and gasp, as the surface has the highest oxygen level in the tank because its in contact with the air. If oxygen is to blame and you don’t remedy the situation many common species of fish like tetras will die.
How many Danios Can I put in a 10 gallon tank?
You can keep up to 10 Celestial Pearl Danios in a 10-gallon tank. If you choose to keep 10, then keep it a species-only tank. If you have less than that, you could perhaps include some Cherry Shrimp.
Can fish die if the tank is too small?
If you end up getting a fish tank that is too small it can cause lots of problems, think: stunted growth, aggressive fish and unstable water parameters. Each one of these issues can ultimately lead to your fish dying.
Is it OK to have 2 filters in a fish tank?
If your aquarium is large enough, it is completely fine to have multiple filters for your fish tank. There are even some instances where having multiple filters can be more beneficial than one large filter.
