Condiments, including hot sauce and seasonings, also are safe for mailing. Commercially packaged cakes, cookies and crackers are safe to mail, but should be shipped in airtight tins.
Can you mail food from Canada to us?
Food can only be shipped to the U.S. if it is being sent from one individual (not a company), to another individual. Customs forms must clearly be marked “gift” and state that the food is for personal consumption. You will also require a full list of the ingredients to be included for Customs.

The best way to transport wine is through checked baggage. The only restrictions in this category relate to alcohol content. Travelers can’t transport bottles with more than 70 percent alcohol content and can only take five liters of alcohol between 24 and 70 percent.

Travelers may carry as many 3.4 ounce bottles of liquid (mini bottles of liquor are 1.7 ounces) that fit comfortably in one quart-sized, clear plastic, zip-top bag. Comfortable means that the bag will seal without busting at the seams. One bag is permitted per passenger.

If you mean can the scanners tell that you’ve been drinking, then the answer is no. If you mean you have alcohol in your bag, then the answer is yes. It is not TSA’s responsibility to prevent passengers from drinking before their flight.
