Once a gang has some members and some turf, it can grow by starting offshoots. People in other neighborhoods, cities, or states can start their own branches of a successful gang (with which they may have little or no contact). Gang offshoots can also turn up in prisons (along with brand-new prison gangs).

How do Crips type?
Crips call themselves “Blood Killas” and cross the letter “b” out or leave it off altogether. Crips do not use the letters “ck” as it denotes “Crip Killer” and substitute it for “cc” (as in “kicc” for “kick”). While traditionally African-American, today’s Crip membership are multi-ethnic.
Do Bloods and Crips still exist?
Drug usage and police integrations slowly started to dwindle out the Bloods and Crips outside of California. Many members still continue to identify themselves as Bloods and Crips, though there are severely less crimes associated with gangs now that they have split.
