Is a high flow catalytic converter worth it?
If so, we definitely recommend installing a high flow catalytic converter. The extra gases have to flow out of the engine as fast as possible. A high flow catalytic converter allows for an optimal flow of exhaust gases. This optimizes all your performance modifications.
Does high flow cat increase performance?
High-flow cats increase power across the full RPM range, but you’re going to notice the biggest boost of both torque and horsepower in the lower RPM range. Plus, you’ll be reducing the toxicity of your exhaust emissions while you’re at it.
How much HP gain from high flow cat?
Do high-flow catalytic converters add more horsepower? Adding a high-flow catalytic converter to your car can add horsepower since it does free up the exhaust flow overall. However, it’s usually recommend as final piece to your exhaust system, especially if your car is making at least 20 percent more horsepower.
Are high flow cats legal UK?
The Milltek Hi-Flow cats will pass the emissions element of the MOT test with no problem however they are not tested under the 2009 ruling and hence the ‘not suitable for road use ‘ badge .

Is removing catalytic converter illegal UK?
It isn’t illegal to remove a catalytic converter in the UK, but the car is unlikely to pass its annual road-worthiness (MoT) test if it’s been removed.
Will a car pass MOT without cat?
The definitive answer; If it can pass the emissions/smoke test, then NO it will not fail. Probably the only sensible way if you have to have a decat is to fit your cat, get through the MOT then change it back.
What’s the difference between a sports cat and a Decat?
It is ALOT louder with a decat thou. bit too loud would annoy you on the motorway after a while. with the sports cat you can still drive around quietly but when you put your foot down it opens up and sounds louder, it is alot louder than the standard system but not overloud.
Can you shoot flames with a sports cat?
YES. The gasoline burned by the car, the hydrocarbons produced by the engine, and the catalytic converter are not involved in generating the flames that exit the exhaust pipes of a flame car, other than that the exhaust from the engine produces the pressurized air flow that makes the effect so dramatic.
Can you get flames with sports cat?
You also have to get the exhaust SUPER hot in order to make the cars spit flames with cats. That’s why there were multiple stories about burned down Lamborghinis etc because the owners were revving them to the moon in order to get some flames. My car still shoots flames even with cats, so it’s definitely possible.
Is Decat same as downpipe?
A downpipe and decat are the same except the decat downpipe has no cats in it, I’d say you will need tuning if you go for decat, all my past experience tells me downpipe decats alter the back pressure the most out of any exhaust mod, plus you will get CEL which will need to be deleted by Jb4.
What does a Decat downpipe do?
A decat downpipe removes the catalytic converter completely. This is the most free flowing setup for an exhaust. It will make the MOT touch and go on emissions.
Will a downpipe fail MOT?
Thanks! You can’t run Stage 2 with standard downpipe. You’ll have to remove map as well. It’d be easier to find a garage that will do it with the catless downpipe on than it would be to go back standard, nowadays everywhere does it….you could just drive around a few places & ask.
