City Year is a great at building relationships with your team members and with the students. The overall job culture is amazing because while you are working with students and making a difference in their education and success, you also get to form a fun team bond and work with your teammates on many projects.
Is City Year competitive?

Is City Year a full-time job?
Our service is full-time. As a City Year AmeriCorps member, you will be serving in schools full-time. Our AmeriCorps members are at the schools each morning before the students arrive and are there through afterschool programming in the afternoon.
How do you become a City Year?
In order to apply for City Year, you must:
- Be able to commit to working in schools with students full-time.
- Be between the ages of 18 and 25 (by July 1, 2021)
- Have earned your high school diploma or GED equivalent (by July 1, 2021)
- Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
Is AmeriCorps considered a job?
