Running a 2-stroke out of fuel is theoreticly bad. The bottom end will be fine because of the oil left over but it creates an extreme lean condition in the top end. Unlike a 4-stroke which usually dies as soon as it’s out of gass a 2-stroke will tend to rev uncontrolably for a few seconds.
