Why didn’t Luke drive the General Lee?
The actor that played Luke admitted that one time he tried to jump over the hood but his foot was caught, so he ended up sliding across the car. Even this was a complete screw up it looked so cool that the director left it in and Luke ended up doing this almost every time he had to get in the car in a hurry.

Why did Bo Luke and Daisy live with Uncle Jesse?
According to creator Gy Waldron, Uncle Jesse raised Bo, Luke, and Daisy after their parents died in a car crash. If this was actually true, then that would mean that there would have been 3 different sets of parents who died in the same car crash.
Did Bo and Luke Duke do their own stunts?
They did almost all of the jumps. The stuff where the General Lee or a car would go up on two wheels, those were done by a stuntman named Buzz Bundy.
