Is Xcargo made by Thule?
The Sears X-Cargo boxes were indeed made by Thule and they used the same type of lock cores as Thule products. All you need to do is inspect the face of the lock core for the core’s number.
Can you drive with an empty car top carrier?
As we have seen many people drive with an empty cargo box we do not recommend it. Thule always recommend removing the cargo box from the vehicle when it is not in use. This will help preserve the overall integrity of the cargo box for many years of use!
Why should a roof rack be removed when not in use?

An aerodynamically designed roof rack or box will help reduce wind resistance to a minimum, but the rack or box should still be removed when it isn’t in use.
Is it okay to go through a carwash with a roof rack?
It is not recommended for a roof rack to go through an automatic car wash. Keeping your roof rack installed when going through an automatic carwash can cause damage to your roof rack and damage the car washing equipment. It is best that you remove the roof rack before washing your car.
