Is there a lot of math on the DAT?
The questions cover a variety of college-level math, although the test does not include calculus-based questions. Students should review principles of algebra and basic calculations, including scientific notation, as well as unit conversions and statistics.
Is Trig on the DAT?
Short answer: Yes, very basic concepts in geometry and trigonometry can still be tested. In a previous official DAT Newsletter, the ADA specified Quantitative Comparison “includes, but is not limited to, conversions; probability and statistics; geometry; and trigonometry”.

For the DAT Practice Test, a calculator will not be present. However, a basic calculator will be available as a pop-up image on the screen for the Quantitative Reasoning Test section in the real DAT. Formulas are provided to test-takers so that they may focus on application, rather than the memorization, of formulas. However, the test does not provide a list of all basic formulas that will be required to know for the test.
