TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design — three broad subject areas that are collectively shaping our world. But a TED conference is broader still, showcasing important research and ideas from all disciplines and exploring how they connect.
Who can talk in Ted Talks?
Up to 100 individuals may attend your event. Only individuals who have attended a qualifying TED conference in person may organize an event with more than 100 attendees. The primary license holder—the individual whose name is on the application form—must have attended a qualifying TED conference.

Do TED talks have a time limit?
Talks may be no longer than 18 minutes. This is the maximum length, not the goal of every talk. TED often asks speakers to present for 3, 5, or 9 minutes, so make sure your speaker knows how much time they have.
How much does a TEDx license cost?
Fees are set according to company size and support the non-profit TEDx platform. Most licenses range between $10,000 – $100,000 USD per event.
How long does it take to get a TEDx license?
TEDx event applications can take up to eight weeks to review — great events aren’t built in a day! We suggest applying at least five months prior to your anticipated event date.
