Why does my flute not work?

Why does my flute not work?

Your flute has some thin, tiny little metal sticks that we call springs. Most of the keys on your flute are open all of the time unless pushed down by one of your fingers. When a spring is popped, your flute will sound terrible. Most of the notes will give the same airy tone no matter how many keys you have pressed.

Why is my flute not playing certain notes?

The most common reason for having difficulty with playing low C on the flute is that the footjoint keys are no longer adjusted so that they’re falling at the same split second. If you look closely, the C and C# keys are both supposed to go down when depressing only the C roller.

Why is my flute not playing B flat?

Your B-flat key spring might be loose. Give everything movable on your flute a good moving. Most likely something is stuck.

How do I know if my flute is broken?

Look for fraying, peeling, puffing, or tears in the “skin” of the pads. If you see any of these, your flute can limp along for a while, but probably needs repair depending on the severity of the tears. Some bubbling or dirtiness is possibly okay.

How do I fix my flute tone?

Support the air stream.

  1. Listen to your tone while blowing into the flute, too. Think about sounding resonant and full. Imagine that you are vibrating the whole length of your flute with your breath.
  2. Shape your lips. Making the hole in your lips smaller can produce a better tone.

Is flute harder than tuba?

However, I don’t think there’s a note on the flute that requires as much air as pedal tones do on the tuba (which I do find a ton of use for). I know this isnt going to be a technical answer, but as one of the rare people who plays both flute and tuba, I find that playing tuba is mostly easier than flute.

What takes more air flute or tuba?

The tuba, along with the flute, is at the top of the list for instruments that take the most air to play. To put it in a brass context, tuba uses air three times faster than the trumpet or French horn, and the lower you play within the tuba’s range, the more air it takes.

What do flutes look like?

The flute looks like a thin tube or pipe with a hole on each end and holes on the body: your fingers go up and down over the holes and you blow into the flute to make music. The word flute can also mean a groove in a column; fluted columns are common in classical Greek architecture.
