Why is it called Love wave?
The first kind of surface wave is called a Love wave, named after A.E.H. Love, a British mathematician who worked out the mathematical model for this kind of wave in 1911. Because it rolls, it moves the ground up and down, and side-to-side in the same direction that the wave is moving.

Are P waves or S waves faster?

Why are there no P waves or S waves received?
The shadow zone is the area of the earth from angular distances of 104 to 140 degrees from a given earthquake that does not receive any direct P waves. The shadow zone results from S waves being stopped entirely by the liquid core and P waves being bent (refracted) by the liquid core.
