Why is the work output of a machine always less than the work input?
Although nearly equal, the output work is less than the input work because of friction. All machines use some amount of input work to overcome friction. The only way to increase the work output is to increase the amount of work you put into the machine. You cannot get more work out of a machine than you put into it!
Can output work be greater than input work?
Work output can never be greater than work input. Machines allow force to be applied over a greater distance, which means that less force will be needed for the same amount of work. When a machine changes the size of the force, the distance through which the force is exerted must also change.
How is the energy of an object affected after work is done on it?
Work changes the amount of mechanical and internal energy possessed by objects. When work is done on a system or object, energy is added to it. When work is done by a system or object, it gives some of its energy to something else. Throwing a ball means a hand applies a force as an arm swings forward.
What is an output?
1. Any information that is processed by and sent out from a computer or other electronic device is considered output. An example of output is anything viewed on your computer monitor screen, such as the words you type on your keyboard.
What is the input work?
Input work is the work done on a machine as the input force acts through the input distance. Other ways it would be the work done on a body or system, that is, forces that are applied to the body or system. Output work is the work done by a machine as the output force acts through the output distance.
What is the output when the input is 10?
The answer or function rule is \begin{align*}2x – 1\end{align*}. Then, see if the function rule \begin{align*}2x -1\end{align*} works for each term in the table by plugging the input into the expression and seeing if it equals the listed output….Example 2.
Input | Output |
---|---|
7 | 13 |
8 | 15 |
10 | 19 |
